It's not a witches brew...

Actually, looks like no witches are involved at all...

It's apple butter. A West Virginia fall tradition. Made by men, and enjoyed by all. Requires constant stirring with a special paddle, a large copper pot of applesauce, and lots of cinnamon. It is delicious! We like it better than syrup on waffles. Add a little whipped cream and you have apple pie waffles for breakfast. This year it was a fundraiser for scout camp.

YUMM! My dad always had apple butter in the fridge, one of my favorites on toast. What a fun tradition.
(why don't I have any in my fridge now I ask???)
mmmmm.....that looks really yummy. Could you send some back with the Bach's? I'd love to try some.:)
I like apple butter, too. I have some in my fridge that I bought awhile ago. That pot of apple butter looks wonderful! The menu sounds great--apple pie waffles!! Yummy! Fall is such a nice time of year when you smell fresh apples, fresh homemade apple pie, firewood burning, pretty leaves falling, and lots of pumpkins!!
I would love a 55 gal drum of that also please.
There are so many yummy things that come to mind, when I think of it.
Hi Amy Jo,
Love the blog. I'm so happy that your family is back together. You all look so happy!

That's a cool tradition!
Is it hard?
Will you be incorporating this little activity into your yearly list of things to do?
We'd love the instructions...
I love how involved you all become where ever you are. You seem to always find the fun thing to do. So when are we going to enter the Amazing Race? I really don't know if I could handle that.
Yum, yum, yummy!
I mean, it tastes sort of like a mixs between apple pie and an apple turnover, but liquedfied.
