Candlepin Bowling

Breyer is all ready for a day out and about!

Today's adventure was candlepin bowling...



This business just happened to be of the Sawyer variety...and although it is in Northborough, Massachusetts, it's very close to where candlepin bowling was invented - in Worcester, 1880.

All the boys enjoyed the nice "pin" door handle, obviously a much thinner pin than ten-pin!

The lanes are long and narrow, and the downed "wood" is not cleared away during all three ball rolls.

Breyer loved the loud ball noises, and stood the whole time to roll the balls.

  

We had the whole place to ourselves...very nice!

That's what happens when you skip school to travel away during your Thanksgiving holiday!

  

Nowadays, this quaint, 60-year old business, would need $600K to be rebuilt.

Higgins Armory

This armory full of knights and swords and jousting horses is a must see, especially for boys!

The castle made of steel and glass makes for a perfect medeival atmosphere.

This good looking group heard about "get in free" day, and were one of the first in line.

If you can't get to the knights, they come to you.

And they let you be the knight!

Revere Beach Sand Festival

This kind of stuff is the real reason my boys and Mr. Brown Sign visit the ocean. They LOVE finding little critters, dead or alive, in the sand of low tide.

But Aunt Rachael and her bevy of girls found a new reason to visit the beach.

"Find your matching swim suit and win!"

The contest ends at the end of the day, so he has quite a bit of carving left to do, but very impressive.
