Bone Breaking News:

There's the break - very visible on the x-ray...

But if you look closer, there's actually two breaks!
But, no surgery required!

Porter Becoming Princely

It's that time...when another boy gets braces.
I'm not sure why I want to do this to Porter.

He already is cute.
He already has a bevy of girls who follow him around.

He's actually very cute in braces!
And, when they come off, look out!

Green Thumb Gardening

A good friend called me and said he had too much produce.
Did I want to come and pick tomatoes and whatever else I could find?

Are you serious?
Did Porter pick a pint of peppers?
Not quite.
But we did glean two HUGE boxes of tomatoes, some corn, cucumbers, squash and cabbage.

Can you imagine how BIG this tomato was?

I had lots of helping hands!

A cornucopia, rather counter, full of produce.

I made yummy pot pie - the fresh corn was the best!

Delicious salad!

And salsa that was to die for.

And, 48 quarts of tomatoes.
Wow.
Call me again.

I Know That My Redeemer Lives!

I know that my Redeemer lives.

What comfort this sweet sentence gives!

He lives, he lives, who once was dead.

He lives, my everliving Head.

He lives to bless me with his love.

He lives to plead for me above.

He lives to comfort me when faint.

He lives to hear my soul's complaint.

He lives to silence all my fears.

He lives to wipe away my tears.

He lives and grants me daily breath.

He lives, and I shall conquer death.

My Mother's Day

Sawyer's school had a mother's day picnic with 8 kindergarten classes this week.
It was to begin promptly at 11:30 a.m.
Somewhere between hosting guests, making a birthday cake, cleaning up from breakfast, making lunches, preparing dinner, doing laundry, and walking the dog
I thought the picnic began at 12:30 p.m.
Sawyer waited at the fence of the playground for an hour.
It was hot.
He wouldn't eat food offered by teachers
because he knew his Mom was coming.
He had told me which blanket he would like to sit on.
He helped me pack the lunch.

And then I didn't come.

It was a sad, tearful, full-of-explanations-that-didn't-sound-very-good moment.

So we ate lunch together in the car.

We were tired of glances from other Moms and children wondering why I was arriving when they were leaving.

I felt like an awful Mom.

I know in the eternal scheme of motherhood, whether or not I am a good mother is not determined by my attendance at kindergarten picnics.

Hopefully.

Sawyer was very forgiving, very comforting, and very loving.

To me, that's what defines motherhood.

Happy Mother's Day!
