Art Class

I love the school system here, I think they try hard to do what's best for the student. I have to admit I think my children were a little behind in English coming from the Texas school system. But, one thing that has bothered me is there are no art classes provided for younger students. A parent has to volunteer (once every two weeks) to teach the class if the children are to be exposed to the arts. So, I taught a class. We made the festive fall scarecrow in Cooper's class. It was fun, it was crafty, I'll be going back.

Yes.
You WILL be going back.
Art is essential.
AND...
you WILL be posting the directions for that cute scarecrow online!
(please?)
talents are for sharing, after all!

I wish school boards would realize that all the arts performing and creative are as important to the development of children as sports and academics.

Good job on the scarecrow and jumping in and volunteering.

I agree with Jenny about how important art is for children. There are a lot of talented children out there that need to express themselves and can do so with art. Perhaps you can round up some other Moms to help out. I have a book that was given to me years ago called Think Christmas. It has lots of crafty items in it as well as recipes. If you think you would like the book, let me know and I'll mail it to you. Loved the scarecrow, and I'll bet the kids loved you as well.
Love, Aunt Shirley

This is the web site - I just googled scarecrow craft paper plate, and this apples4theteacher takes you right to it. It requires foam, but I just used construction paper.
