It seems like forever since I've posted - have been traveling to attend my grandmother's funeral in Massachusetts. What a drive! I am so glad to be home. It was an uplifting memorial service, and I appreciated being there for this chapter in my family's life. As I have been pondering her life, (you have a lot of time to do that between Ohio and Massachusetts and back again), I've realized there are a few things I'd like to remember from this experience. Singing two hymns in this little Episcopal church in Walpole made all the difference in the spirit that was there, and visibly transformed funeral attendees to being very uplifted by the time they left. Music is an amazing tool, and I want to think about using it more in my life. Also, I wonder what I'll be remembered for? I hope the things I'm memorialized for will be important and eternal. I want to do better in using my time on important things that will have a greater impact on people's lives. What would you hope to be remembered for? P.S. I commissioned
Cooper to do this painting of my grandmother, it's very sweet.

First of all, great picture up top with Porter - and thanks for reminding us all of this most important day.
Secondly, great post. We LOVED having you there. That was a big sacrifice for you to come. You forgot to mention that YOU were the organ player and how you brought such a wonderful spirit into the church with your beautiful music. Thanks for that. Love you!
Great picture!!! glad you made it home and were able to join your family for this weekend...
wish i could have had the chance to see you.
Love the picture of Porter with your Dad's uniform. He must be so proud. Amy Jo, you did a magnificent job yesterday playing the organ at my wonderful Epiphany Parish in Walpole. I love that church, and I loved that you were able to come home to play for Nana's memorial service. The music was beautiful, "Abide with Me", "The Old Rugged Cross", and "Amazing Grace". Aaron and Rachael blew me away with their rendition of "How Great Thou Art". I was in awe of their talent. They are so blessed, and we are to be able to enjoy those wonderful voices that just blend so well together. Cooper's picture of Nana was great. He does a great job. Wish you didn't have to rush home, but I know you had a long drive. Hopefully some day you'll all be a lot closer to us. Would love that. Love you all so very much. Love, Aunt Shirley
Love the pictures.
I would remember you for being such a generous piano teacher. You were patient and kind and FREE to a very terrible student!
Great to think about!
Amy, you will be remembered for so many things that you do daily. You will be remembered for being a GREAT sister, daughter, wife and mother, friend and neighbor. You will be remembered by a whole class of aspiring artists who without your sacrifice may never find a passion or talent. You will be remembered for always knowing what it right and standing firm in that belief and you will be remembered for being nice to everyone you meet and help whomever needs it, whether they know it or not. I will remember you for being a great friend and a greater example to me, you have helped me more than you will ever know.
not to mention your generosity...
and your ability to find the most interesting spots always with a great history. Roger leaned over in church and said how beautiful you looked at the funeral.
Music does have a great power to touch us.
One of my fav quotes is
Next to silence, that which comes closest to expressing the inexpressible is music..
YOu have 6 beautiful boys that will affect society in such a positive way. The most wonderful legacy!
I agree w/ Jenny
You did look beautiful in all the pictures I saw!
Which hymns? I am sure it was wonderful to have so much of your family together. Beautiful pictures.
For enickel--check Shirlgirl's comments and you'll have the music.
Isn't it interesting how timing does have so much to do with our life experience. I went home to visit my Grandmother because - well, Lana and one of my other friends lost thier Grandmothers in October (or September and October). Life is really too short and there's not enough time to do everything we'd like, but I PROMISE you that you are making an impact that will reach far beyond your years with your lovely family (your boys namely). Remember, family first and than all other things will fall into place. Hugs, Michele
