"It says in 1st Nephi that Nephi was "born of goodly parents, Lehi and Sariah." I believe this to mean his parents tried their best to do what would make Heavenly Father happy. That means I too have been born of goodly parents as well. My parents also try to do what is right and they know they nded to try their hardest. Lehi passed his righteousness to his son Nephi just as my parents try to help me. This is part of my heritage.
President Eyring said, "When we choose whether to make or keep a covenant with God, you choose whether you will leave an inheritance of hope to those who might follow your example." President Eyring also said he owed much of his happiness in life to a man he had never met,,, because this great grandfather had brought the gospel into his family's life. President Eyring said, "He left me a priceless heritage of hope." My father is the first and only member of the Mormon church in his family. He honors his covenants and his priesthood. This is his heritage of hope he's giving me if I choose. My mother's parents are the first and only members in both of their families. My grandparents both honor their covenants. They show their love to Heavenly Father through their service to Him and others. They have given their priceless heritage of hope to my mother, and now me. I know it's up to me to choose how I'll use this heritage.
President Eyring said there are things we can do when we're young. He said to remember daily family prayer, family scripture study, singing hymns. President Eyring said, "If we let Jesus Christ be the leader of our family, things will work out." He said, "We are all children of a living God, Jesus is His Beloved Son and our resurrected Savior. This is His church. In it are the keys of the priesthood, so families can be forever. This is our priceless heritage of hope." I'm thankful my family can be together forever, and that I am part of my family's heritage."
