My Mom

What can I say about my Mom? Not enough, to be sure, but I'd like to try a little. It's the least that I can do for her.

My mother is stupendous.

My first year of seminary, when I complained about waking up at 5:30, she woke up at 5:00 just to make me muffins.

Everyday.

My Mother is unselfish, though I need a stronger word than that. She is Selfless.

She has, I'll swear it, never gone clothes shopping for herself. She only goes any kind of shopping for us.

My Mother never stops.

Never stops working, cooking, cleaning, shuttling, serving, visiting, teaching, caring, being, loving.

One day she made 5 lunches, went visiting teaching, called every unknown, uncared-for member of the ward, mowed the lawns of members in the ward, took my brother to speech, mowed our lawn, dinner, cleaned, little sister duty, bed. In between there are little things, too many to count, but which count much more to those who receive them.

My Mother would, in fact, give you the shirt off her back.

In fact, she once volunteered our home to a family who lost theirs, and they lived with us for three months.

I'd could go on, but I won't--because my mother is perfectly humble.

And so, after almost two decades of living under her care, I declare my mother to be an angel. Proof that we can, by choosing to live like Christ, come close to perfection here on Earth. She is a modern day pioneer. (Though I suppose that makes me her modern day trial.) To me she is many other things as well, beautiful, musical, kind, and wonderful to talk with. I am glad that she is all of these things.

But mostly I'm glad she's my mom.

I love you, Mom.

Tanner

Tanner, what a beautiful tribute to your Mom--yes she is all of those wonderful things and more. I love talking to her, too. She has certainly done a wonderful job raising her 6 sons and now her sweet daughter. She has been blessed. And, of course, she has an awesome husband. Happy Mother's Day, Amy Jo.
Lots of love. Aunt Shirley

I thought we were talking about Mimi this whole time and then I get to the end and see the author is Tanner. I suppose the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

Beautiful job Tanner! After spending the last few days with her and your sweet family I feel blessed to have her as my example. I wish I was half as kind and patient as she!

Awesome Tanner! I was right in light with Uncle Aaron, read it thru thinking of Mimi (thinking your Mom wrote it since she is the usual blog editor) then saw your name and had to re-read the whole thing, what a different light it shed (I was going to ask your mom which brother went to speech class) but after reading it a 2nd time, it all made sense :) Lovely job Tanner and Happy Mother's Week Mom and also to the apple tree from where you fell <3 <3 <2
