Pearly Whites

We've been going through the semi-annual check-ups at the dentist office. Let's just say this time around we've had lots of surprises. Like Sawyer's first cavity. So we went back to get it filled. I gave him no prep talk. Just waved goodbye. "Mom, what just happened back there?" is what he asked me when he was done. He was numb, drooling, and mumbling about the "small pinch."

Cooper apparently had a cavity from six months ago, which no body told me about. So he went back to get it filled. Only they found it had gone so deep into his root it killed the tooth. So they pulled it out. "Mom, I told Sawyer we got to watch t.v. while they put our fillings in and they pulled my tooth out instead!" He was not a happy camper. Because his permanent tooth isn't near to coming in the roots haven't been reabsorbed.

We have never had the privilege of leaving this kind of tooth for the tooth fairy. And I won't even go into detail about my experience. I use to think dentists weren't that bad, and couldn't understand all the fuss. Now I know why my father and my twin curl their toes just thinking about those appointments!

Awesome tooth. Bummer experience. I always like playing in the hole of an empty tooth. I suppose he's got a canyon.

Have the children every had fluoride treatments? They will certainly help in keep the cavities at bay. My godson and his brother, both in their mid thirties, had those treatments as children. They have NEVER had a cavity. Keep brushing those teeth and flossing! I had to have a tooth redone and the dentist put an onlay in it (very expensive). Because the hole was so big, the nerve is now acting up. I am on an antibiotic for 10 days, and next Thursday will have a root canal to kill the nerve. The root and tooth are fine. Never a dull moment in my dental experiences, but I have a wonderful dentist and have never minded going. I've never had a bad experience, even when I had the accident and had the front teeth out and then went through the bone grafting, implants, temporary bridges and then the permanent one. Does that make anyone squeamish? Sorry--I made it through it all.

Ame,

THis is rad! Cooper may be sad now, but he'll be happy later in life when he gets to show off his unique tooth!

Wow! I can't believe they didn't talk to the mom about it first! That is a pretty cool looking tooth though.

Noah had a tooth filled yesterday. Our dentist doesn't like numbing children, as long as the cavity isn't too big. Noah seems to get cavities more than the girls, he's not such a fan of the dentist either. I must say it was easier than the last filling which he felt a little more than he wanted to. This one was much smaller.

I must say I have never seen a tooth like that before. The tooth fairy will will keep her hands on that one for show & tell!!

Hope they feel better!

See you soon Bro. B

That is one unique tooth for the tooth fairy to find. Did she come yet? Sawyer and Cooper sounded as if they were brave. Hopefully, just cleanings next time

There is a reason dentist offices have the reputation they do! We've had so many dental bills lately, I threaten the kids if they don't brush, floss, and flouride every morning & night, I will start having them pay me tooth fairy money!
That is a cool looking tooth though, make a necklace!

I had a tooth puled once that was very large. It as funny because I overheard the Dental assistants saying to the Dentist, "What do you have in there, a Dinosaur?"
