This is Tanner, my oldest son. I don't blog much about him because he's never around! He's such a good kid, although he's probably had the hardest time moving here, being in high school and everything that comes with change. He's having a miserable week. 1. His arm he hurt last February in baseball still hurts. We have medical bills we're still paying from Texas as proof nothing was found except tendonitis. I thought maybe an accupuncturist would be able to help him. He was diagnosed with a pinched nerve, and woke up today with a year's worth of pain back in one day. 2. He was unable to finish his braces treatment in Texas, so we're in the process of beginning treatment again. He had an appointment today, and begged for pain relief. 3. There are no girls out here he's interested in. The standards and culture are so different it's hard for him to even want to go to school. Sad week when you don't have a Valentine! He needs a "keep your chin up" talk that will lift his heart up as well. Any suggestions besides moving?

Heavy Hands, Heavy Heart

Keep your standards up, high school is a small blip on the big screen and is incosequential. After his mission he will find 100's of girls that will fall all over themselves to date him.
The pain, I got nothing.
Sorry about the pain, Tanner. What about physical therapy for the tendonitis along with some heat and ice. I have had tendonitis in my hip for a long time. Have done physical therapy--end of September to the middle of December. I do exercises twice a day for it. Occasionally I take a couple of Advil to help with the discomfort. Most days, I am fine as long as I exercise. So check with the doctor to see if that might be of help for Tanner. As for the girls, don't worry about them. One day there will be one there who will peak your interest. Just walk with your head up, smile, enjoy your school work and maybe you can get into some kind of hobby course or something that is of interest to you. It's hard going from school to school and making new friends. I've been there and done that. I never dated anyone in my high school even though I liked a couple fo the guys. One of them, his name is John, I really liked. When we were planning our 50th reunion from high school, I told him that I really liked him in H.S. He said that he liked me too. So, I said, why didn't you ask me out? No answer for that. He's a fun guy, has a lovely wife, and hopefully we'll see each other at the 55th reunion committee--another year for that! Time flies when you're having fun. So, Tanner, keep your chin up. Know that we love you and we send you our hearts for Valentine's Day. Not the same, but the LOVE is there. Hope the pain in your elbow goes away quickly. Lots of love to you. Aunt Shirley and Uncle David
The grass is always greener. But. Somewhere else, it's dead. Your grass is drooping. A little fertilizer, and you'll be good. Be glad you're not in someone else's shoes. It could always be worse!
xoxo
I LOVE YOU TANNER! How come you have a busted lip? I read that on facebook. I'll think about what I can offer...
Holy Mackrel Tanner! Okay, get Hannah Adkins to come to church, she's cute and she still OWEs you one! Maybe she'll join and/or get all HER friends to join, then any wayward standards will disappear and turn into good standards :) I should put you in a big box and mail you to my chiropractor in San Diego. He's truly a miracle worker and I've been dying to get back there myself for my own multi aches and pains 'g-r-o-a-n' not to mention he works every Thursday in the San Diego Temple. Regarding needle poking, that should work, getting all the toxins out of your system is the first step to get the pain out and away from its source. Day 1 is always the worst! Hang in there and keep your chin up! Isn't the Philmont necklace helping anymore? Can't help you with your teeth, I'm deathly afraid of dentists, ANY kind! Love and miss you!
Well, based on your "thought of the day," I'd say Tanner should crack open some sardines. Yum :) My second recommendation would be a week-long dose of the Raleigh Hutchins, say from March 6-12 or so. Recommendation 3? Find a good book. Appropriate favorites include *Outliers,* *D&C 122,* and *Atlas Shrugged*. Recommendation 4? This quote from President Packer, one of my all-time favorites from a BYU Devotional in 1966: "If you happen to hit a good sorry mood once in a while, relax and enjoy it--it is a good sign that you are normal."
