Oh Shoot, It's a Shot
The day is here. The weather cooperated again, giving us a snow day, no school. That is a perfect time to get the little stuff done, like getting six boys to the doctor. I'm not necessarily a huge proponent of the flu shot. I've had two, both times when I was pregnant. I did notice I never got sick, and the effects seemed to last for two years. However, my neighbor is a doctor, and said the flu was two days away from our area. He tracks it with the CDC website. The last time my boys got the flu, in May in Texas, they all got double lung pneumonia, and half had double ear infections as well. I don't want to do that again. I didn't opt for shots then as it was $25 per needle, but here they're covered How do you feel about the flu shot, and have you had yours? (We're up for trying the nasal spray version this year!)

NOT a big fan of the nasal spray, as this is a LIVE virus being used... if you are around elderly people or people with low immune systems or cancer patients, DO NOT opt for this. ALSO. I am a BIG fan of the shot. It's a booster of confidence. My two cents.
Not a fan of the shot, although I'm not against it. The only time I've had it was when I was pregnant and I got SO sick that year. SOOO, we don't ever get it, only because I'm not convinced it helps.
I did just get back from the Dr. though, and Jane had to get FOUR shots in her arms...Kindergarten shots.
No matter what, being poked with a needle is always FUN :)
I had the flu shot and I've never been ill from it. You just have to be sure that no one has a cold because they will not give you the flu shot if you do have a cold. The area where they put the needle may be a little sore for a couple of days, but that is the only side effect for me. I'd opt for the flu shot--better than the alternative.
I don't do the shots, every time I have I have been so sick with the flu. When I ignore it, I am fine.
Ben's the only one in our house that is a regular when it comes to the flu shot. if my kids are with me when we are dhmc - where they give it out for free - i make them get it. they LOVE me for it. :) not worried about them as much as them getting the flu and passing it on to ben.
