Dear Tanner and Hunter,
What a week! It was delightful having Hunter home, not even a week! From late last Sunday to early yesterday morning, we have had many laughs. The biggest was the three day adventure in getting Texas drivers' licenses. We watched an eighty seven year old lady, barely able to walk, hardly able to pass the eye test, and slow on the up take, be given a renewal good until 2021; we saw two men who lost their license because of drunk driving, have their restrictions removed; we watched four recent immigrants of Mexico, unable to read road signs in English, all receive their licenses. But we struggled, even though vital, sober and American, to meet their document requirements. My birth certificate with my maiden name and my social security card with my married name weren't acceptable because there was no marriage license to document the name change (day one). My mortgage bill and insurance documentation weren't accepted as proof of residency, even though my marriage license shows whom I'm married to, because they weren't in my name (day two). Poor Hunter had to keep waiting for me to get it right. We succeeded on day three. All of this was necessary for him to get his visa paperwork finished. His identification address has to match his home address. We also were able to get his fingerprint paperwork completed at the Granbury police department, as well as have his teeth inspected and cleaned. Such a fun vacation!
Breyer loved having him home. He was her personal play date mate, her tea party partner, her free Chick-fil-A lemonade frosty consort, her find-a-bug buddy, her build-a-fort friend. She's asked for you, Hunter, all day today, not understanding why you had to leave again.
Miller and Sawyer both were nominated for all stars. I guess the coaches could submit up to five names from their team. Times seven and eight teams, that's a lot of boys that showed up for the try outs They were two hours each, and included pitches from a pitching machine, line drives to stop at short stop with a throw to first, and pop ups in the outfield with a throw to third. Also, base running and sliding, and if you pitched, a few throws at the end. There is an A and B team, and Miller especially keeps asking me to check the website to see if he made a team.
Due to last week's rain, the lake is within a foot of being full. That's up eight feet since we've moved here last August. It's weird to see the boat ramps open, and the lake being used; not to see the underside of all the docks, or grass under our boat slip. This week had a few extra games because of last week's rain outs. Miller lost all three games, but with seven at-bats, had five home runs, and eight RBI's. He contributed a lot, but couldn't carry the games ;-) Sawyer won both of his games, and did very well pitching the fist game.
Found this picture of you on Facebook, Tanner, this morning:
We're thankful your job in Kansas City is becoming better and better, and that you have a friend! Keep track of all those must-see places, as we'll be coming soon to visit! May your week be ever more fruitful! Nobody likes bugs ;-) Go Altera!
Hunter's off having an adventure this morning. We spent a lot of time trying to figure out the train and bus schedule, so he could get to work, and back home again with his grandparents. Go Virgin Impulse! Your grandmother has called me every meal time reporting to me what she made for you to eat. Seems like your in wonderful hands. Don't forget to pull the equivalent in weight of weeds the amount of food you're consuming. She'll have to ask Grampy for an increase in her food budget ;-)
Breyer will be visiting the doctor's this morning, probably has an ear infection, after her fever and cold symptoms this weekend. Cooper will be tagging along as well. He's been complaining of his toe bone for almost two weeks, and is still in pain after snagging it on something. He spent yesterday morning on another rent-a-scout project, prepping a backyard for an end-of-the-summer wedding.
One more month of school here, and the boys will be home, heaven help me then. I need to find a swimming pool ;-)
You boys be good. We love you!
Mom
P.S. Found this comment on your cousin's blog: "At dinner, we went around the table, swearing blood oaths to kiss Uncle Jarrod upon his arrival, in exchange for dessert. He hated it." Know that your father is constant. He never changes, and this is good ;-) She also said, "We stayed up all night talking to Hunter and Porter." Don't remember you telling me this, but glad she's in your life.

Whatever time "we" spent figuring out the train and bus schedule must not have worked. Because then "I" was tasked to do it all again!
Loved your letter, as usual. Always so informative and fun to read. Busy busy!
