Dear Tanner and Hunter,
It's been a quiet week over there! You two need to pick up the phone a bit more! We love to hear from you when you're able to call. Breyer wants to know when Christmas is coming, so she can see you again.
Speaking of Breyer, her day in church was much better than last week. I even got to leave her Sunbeam class and not have her following me out the door for the first time since January. Dad and Porter blessed the sacrament and Cooper was passing, and I was on the organ, so instead of sitting with Thing 5 and Thing 6 she went to sit with the neighbor girl. Ended up staying there the whole meeting.
We've had a few sibling spats this week and in the interest of keeping familial harmony your father instituted the Love Couch. The first sitting of the love couch was between Sawyer and Miller. Can't leave until everybody else in the house can feel the love emanating from the love couch. Breyer loved the idea of the love couch, and peppered your Dad with questions. "The couch isn't working. Is there a button to push it on?" "Can I push the love buttons?" "Does the love couch need a key to turn it on?" "The couch isn't working, Dad is there a button to push to get more love?" "Does the love couch need new batteries?" Sometimes her stuffed animals are fighting and they'll have to visit the love couch. Now there's a button to push if the dogs need extra love from the couch. Perfect for the month of love ;-)
Miller had a double header on Saturday. I only saw his second game as I was at Sawyer's game. I was told he scored all of the 11/11 points in his first game. Not as much the second game but definitely the reason they pulled off the win. Sawyer played a great game. 25/28 points. He was asked to play on the all star team, not sure what that commitment will be so we gave a tentative yes.
Miller and Sawyer were registered for baseball. They're very excited to be playing soon, although not excited enough to pull out the gloves. They're both still very much in basketball mode, and are enjoying the Bach-Dewey Backboard. Cooper wanted to be registered for soccer, so he'll be playing that instead in hopes of making the 9th grade soccer team in the fall.
Dad and I made Porter's basketball game date night, although it was just the game. I do enjoy watching a good basketball game. He told me today only ten days until track. He's very excited to hurdle and vault here in Texas. And I think he's still growing. Still no hair on the upper lip or in the pits ;-)
Dad spent a good portion of one day this weekend on line in a safety defense course. He got caught on one of his airport runs speeding, and was trying to lessen the consequences. The boys thought it was pretty funny watching Dad suffer in front of a screen for hours!
Dad took the boys to a Tarleton State basketball game last night. I'll post their pictures later this week. Not all the boys were that excited to go but by the time they got home last night the camaraderie was in full swing, lots of laughs and good times.
During the day I cut everybody's hair. Breyer's because she got a piece of gum stuck in it, and the boys and Dad because they were shaggy. Here's to hoping you were able to get yours cut as well!
Have to say, we enjoyed our talk with you! These pictures are funny! You guys are good together. Keep having fun. We love how you can always make us smile!
In case you didn't see the picture, here's Hannah against the giant of a girl she had to shut down. She's already on my calendar for the fall games ;-)
Dad found a great talk by Marvin J. Ashton on "No Time for contention." Here's a marvelous quote he found, so fitting for this month of love and our love couch:
"We have no time for contention. We only have time to be about our Father’s business. Contend with no man. Conduct yourselves as gentlemen with calmness and conviction and I promise you success.”
We already consider you men of calmness and conviction and success.
Thank you.
Love,
Mom
