With All Our Love

Dear Tanner and Hunter,

We appreciate the photos! Makes us feel like we're still family. Obviously you have a lot of fun at work! Hearing about all your activities keeps us young at heart as well.

Last Sunday I forgot to mention we went on another hike at the Acton Nature Center. Dad and Breyer had their own little hike, which she loved, and caught up with us down the trail.

Dad took Cooper and Sawyer on a scout camp out this weekend. It was a bit chilly, for Texas, but they had a good time chasing away skunks, building a bridge to cross to the island in the river, cooking their sausage potato cheese dutch oven dinner, three young men visitors, and setting up the huge tent with two broken tent poles. I won't say how much fun it was to have some quiet time at home, especially when the two younger kids were in bed. Porter had an away game, so I had to leave at midnight to pick him up, and we all slept in the next morning.

Porter is dunking the basketball. He has a few bruises on his arms, and finally tore his watch strap. He's a little blue in color and wearing a small brace but he'll be fine. He enjoyed a basketball breakfast on Friday, until he found out he had to pay. He's suffering from cedar fever, as am I, but will recover from that as well. He's finished his reading for seminary, yeah! and found out the school didn't accept

Cooper found out he didn't place in his history fair project on Cassin Young, but was invited by Porter to enter again, with Sawyer, and have the Schenewark sweep next year. They actually had three hefty monetary awards, one from the Optimists, that they're anxious to earn next year. Cooper had a board of review in scouts and is Life. Hopefully his goal sometime soon will be to decide on a project. Cooper's still enjoying the packages he gets in the mail. His favorite was probably from Denver University:

Sawyer placed 5th for his science fair project on lettuce, and the best way to store it. He scored 22 out of 26 points at his game on Friday. It's not like anyone didn't shoot, his were the only ones to go in, all of them right under the basket except for a few free throw points. He was hammered a few times as well, including once when he was pushed to the ground and the kid ran over his chest. (His pictures have already been posted.)  Sawyer had a board of review and earned tender foot and second class. Yeah! Sawyer was invited to a birthday party by two girls in his class, at the local roller skating rink and in lieu of presents asked for shoe donations for  People to People. He brought a bucketful, was the only boy to show up, and almost won limbo. On skates. He spent the afternoon today making a little ladder so he can climb up on the bunk bed easier.

Miller, after not liking the taste of a water fountain at school, and having Sawyer tell him it tastes nasty because everyone puts their mouth on the faucet says, "Great. Why would I want to get married if kissing is going to be so nasty?" Too funny! He scored 12 out of 14 points at his game Saturday. The game ended in a tie, no overtime for his league.

Breyer had a bad day at church. Ran out of sacrament meeting three times, once screaming. Ran into priesthood screaming, looking for Dad, because she didn't want to stay with me for singing time. Too much for too long, I took the little car away from Dad and drove her home, which was hard to get to after pulling over two times to buckle her back in the car seat. We'll talk it up to being short on sleep and start over tomorrow.

I think that's about it. Looking forward to hearing about your ice cream party ;-)

As a closing thought, even in our own homes we are vulnerable to the attacks of the adversary. It is vital that we take the necessary precautions to warn and protect our family members, especially children and teenagers. As President Packer reminds us, “You will do no greater eternal work than within the walls of your own home.” You are our great work. Be good, stay safe.

Love,

Mom
