Happy Valentine's Day! Not that you needed to be out looking for love. Just that your love overflows from your home. Dad brought me home a dozen What-A-Burgers last night so I didn't have to cook. Nothing says love like hamburgers! Lying in bed last night I played him my love song for 2015, Alicia Keyes' Not Even the King." https://www.pinterest.com/pin/213569207305513610/ He made me laugh. "Yeah, but Miss Keyes still has money."
One morning when I was loading up the dishwasher, I put in the container I had used to make Breyer's bubbles for the back deck. The next thing I know there are piles of bubbles coming out the bottom of the dishwasher! Always rinse out that dish soap! Breyer and I spent thirty minutes scooping out bubble foam from the dishwasher before I could safely start it again. Of course she thought the bubbles were wonderful.
Sawyer got a call from the all star basketball coach. He told us that every game coaches put in a couple of votes of who was the best player, and then at the end of the season they tally the votes. Sawyer got the most votes in the league. All star season is just a couple of weekend tournaments. I let him know about baseball try outs so he cancelled the practice on that date for me. He was looking for a place to practice so I offered up the church court, carpet and all. His regular team tromped 48-5.
(Given a technical on this push)
I had my first cub scout leaders' meeting this week. The old cub master leaves this up coming Saturday to take his son to a scout troop, after the crossover, and I'll begin my three year tenure as cub master. I have two immediate goals. Increase membership, and use our church facilities.
Our family had to clean the church this week, by assignment, and Porter, Cooper and Breyer came with me to help the lady who has the calling to organize it. She's been cleaning every week for six years, and loves it. Breyer handled the push vacuum, Cooper had the backpack vacuum, Porter had the really large one, and I had a medium one. We also did all the windows, light switches, glass doors, and all the sweeping. Basically everything except bathrooms, mopping and trash. It's good to serve. Our tradition dictates ice cream for everyone that cleans, so we picked up the limited Breyer's peppermint cookie. Yum!
Porter spent the day (5 a.m. to 5 p.m.) on the bus to the campus of Texas A&M, part of his WIT club he was chosen to be a part of (Workforce Industry Training), in partnership with the Nuclear Power Institute and the Texas Engineering Experimentation at Texas A&M University, and this was the first of their school visits.
Porter only has one more game to play this week, and he'll start track. He's very excited to begin hurdles and pole vaulting here. He also got asked to be the mascot for next year, Pete the Pirate, and if he says yes, will be going to cheer camp this summer. Arg!
They came home with enough scout fever to set up the tent inside the house, and have a camp out, Breyer's first, as there is no school tomorrow.
Hunter, this is Breyer showing you her telescope eyes. She was looking through the telescope this week, and had to practice her telescope eyes with Dad.
We love you! We're grateful your both still our Valentines!
Love,
Mom
