(CNN) -- Sinkholes are swallowing Corvettes now. Last year it was houses in Florida, and on Wednesday nature gobbled up some of the coolest and fastest cars to come off the assembly line.
Eight valuable 'vettes at Bowling Green, Kentucky's National Corvette Museum fell victim to a 40-foot-wide, 20-foot-deep sinkhole that opened up in the facility's yellow Sky Dome wing. The museum unofficially estimates it caused millions of dollars in damage. Motion detectors alerted security that something was amiss. The hole is so big, it makes the Corvettes look like little Matchbox cars. It was determined that the sinkhole was caused by a cave underneath. The museum is very close to Mammoth Cave National Park.
And our visitor LOVES corvettes!
A field trip was in order!
The empty showroom, and sinkhole...
Very cool to find that the eight cars were temporarily on display...
There were also Corvettes in pristine condition ;-)
It was a GREAT tour of a classic car and history!

So sad to see those cars crushed but what a fun day! I'm so happy your family was able to spend time with you guys.
Nice that everyone enjoyed the tour. So sad about the cars that were damaged--lots of $$$$$ invested there.
