I attempted to contact your office regarding your flight information and they stated the date had been provided - July 11th - but that they had no flight information. Eagerly awaiting the details! Hunter has been waiting, to purchase his airplane ticket to come home, but now will just move forward.
Cooper found out he is off the wait list, now a future resident of Merrill Hall in Helaman Halls. Yeah! Hunter has found a house two doors down from him for you to live in - another hallelujah - and it's so modestly priced! The fall plans seem to be coming together.
Your oldest brother and family have been here for one week now. It's been delightful. We've fallen into a nice routine with them. Tanner leaves fairly early in the morning, Nora keeps us all entertained, and AnneMarie is the glue that holds us all together. Even Wagner has been cooperating, as he has to spend his time outdoors due to Ammie's allergies. Dad usually walks him in the morning, and I have the night detail. He's pretty tired inbetween those trips, as it is hot, hot, hot and humid here.
We have played a lot of games, already, and there's always so much laughter. My favorite sound! And usually at the end of the day when we can all review that day's events, and Nora's adorable antics. She does love the dog, and Breyer is her bestie.
Breyer isn't registered in any gymnastics session over the summer, but she has six classes she's missed that she can make up. That's just enough to keep her busy here and there. We'll probably go Mondays and Thursdays during the last three weeks of June and crank them out. She's still in the back handspring class. She spent some time making her baptismal program, including a list of whom to invite. I've heard through the grapevine that you'll be giving your talk the first Sunday you're home, and her baptism will be after church that same day.
Miller spent four mornings this week at our first ever Granbury High School baseball camp. He said he learned a lot, and all those present knew who he was. Sawyer's done a wonderful job endearing that difficult name to those over the fields. Miller's all star baseball season began this week, with two practices preceding the home field Granbury tournament Saturday. He did what we told them he could do: Carry his team to a first place posting for the second day of tournament Sunday. He pitched the first game, except for the last inning, 15-0. He pitched three out of four innings of the second game, 7-1. He had a couple of nice doubles, a few singles and stolen bases. And a very enthusiastic cheering section. During the start of the second game he hit three players in a row, and then proceeded to strike the next three players out, leaving them all on the bases. He's figuring out how to play the mental game as well.
Sawyer has two early morning work outs with the basketball team, and games in Brewer on Monday evenings. He and Cooper were invited by Sis. Smith to work in her yard this week, and spent five hours Thursday and five on Friday morning. Cooper is still working three evenings a week at Stumpy's. When he brings home leftover bakery goods, he becomes Stumpy Claus. He will be tasked this week in finding another job.
Saturday evening was the annual Bentwater BBQ. When you pay $700 in homeowner fees, you want to invite the whole world to come eat. We were the largest crowd, and youngest, by far.
I think my poison ivy is finally done popping out. Two weeks of oozing, itching, burning, spreading...it's been a difficult two weeks. Your father has been very supportive in my efforts to endure. I smell like the newest cleaning product with my anti-itch, anti-drying spray, and wearing long sleeves so my dry, flaky burned skin doesn't scare or leave droppings.
I saw this picture of Uncle Rodger working in his woods, and got the shivers. Poison ivy for sure!
We had a fast, unexpected storm with straight line winds of over 80 miles per hour, considered a F0 tornado yesterday. Whole trees were uprooted, a crane was blown off of a building, hundreds of thousands now without power due to downed power lines and downed trees. My 12 story building shook. It was a busy day!
I had just read “Good Shepherd, Lamb of God,” by Elder Gerrit W. Gong. What a steadying, calming influence these words had on me living through tumultuous last days. Gong said that “As our Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ calls us in His voice and His name. He seeks and gathers us. He teaches us how to minister in love."
"As we seek with real intent to follow Jesus Christ, inspiration comes to do good, to love God, and to serve Him. As we study, ponder, and pray; as we regularly renew sacramental and temple covenants; and as we invite all to come to His gospel and ordinances, we are hearkening to His voice.
As we minister, we acknowledge the ninety-and-nine who are steadfast and immovable, even while we yearn after the one who has strayed."
We covenant to follow Him, not passively, blindly, or “sheepishly,” but instead desiring with all our hearts and minds to love God and our neighbor, bearing one another’s burdens and rejoicing in one another’s joys. As Christ freely dedicated His will to the will of the Father, so we reverently take upon us His name."
Consider these thoughts as you finish out your remaining few weeks. Find lots of opportunities to serve in love, gathering in love, teaching in love.
Love,
Mom
