With All My Love

Good morning, Elder Schenewark,

The siblings are excited for your Monday morning phone call. They'll be on their spring break all week. Dad plans on getting loads of work done on his on line class. Cooper will be filling out scholarship applications and camping. Sawyer will be playing baseball and camping. Miller will be camping and pining for Tyler. We want to fit it in but haven't figured out a way yet with Sawyer's practice and game schedule. And Miss B will keep us all entertained. The dog is her newest sibling. She's well aware she carries most of the day to day responsibilities, but relishes her position of being third favorite. She's determined she's behind both her parents in dog favorites. Breyer spent yesterday giving the dog a bath, walking the dog up and down the cul-de-sac, and making food concoctions that the dog could eat. Her latest culinary attempts include microwaving eggs and then mixing them into his food. Wagner's put on a bit of weight, but still likes his food humanized. And his absolutely favorite thing to do is go on walks to look for dog friends.

This weekend Dad and I enjoyed getting out into Granbury and mingling. We heard about a new store opening that's promoting local food. I think the eggs come from the Austin area, but the bread is made by a lady in the ward (go!), the veggies grown locally, the canned goods made in Granbury...you get the idea. I hope they succeed. I'll be a big supporter. And in their grand opening Friday night, upon your visit you were given bags of freshly popped kettle, an organic Honey Crisp apple, a glass bottle of soda, and lots of samples to eat.

We stopped there after corralling all the kids and bringing them to Chick-fil A for dinner. I have recently felt like we as a family need to be seen together in the community. Families, especially happy families, are such a precious commodity in the world we live in today. We're visible at sporting events but not necessarily as a whole crew. After learning about the restaurant serving fish sandwiches for Lent, we decided we would go there. No fish sandwiches served at that location, but we had lots of fun, and spontaneously decided that Cooper would take the kids to see the new Marvel movie, Sawyer would be dropped off at a soccer game, and Dad and I would have date night.

After dropping Sawyer off, we stopped at a new small business that opened up by the high school, BoxDrop Mattress. It's a co-op of stores that band together to get the bulk discount from the Corsicana Bedding Co. in Corsicana, TX. Just to make sure their exceptional mattresses were really cheaper, we stopped off at the Mattress Firm near HEB. Those mattresses were $4500-$10,000. Versus $500.00. When did they get to be the same price as a car? We laughed and laughed trying to get away from the salesman, who was genuinely very sincere and nice. We just couldn't pay that price to replace our fifteen year old mattress.

Yesterday I went to the butcher's to pick up some hamburger, but was really there to get meat bones for the dog. You can choose from the cooked version, or the raw, that they cut fresh. Duh! Always go for the raw. They're less brittle. Wagner spent the morning on the grass chewing out the marrow while Dad worked in the garage.

I visited your favorite doughnut shop, Sunny's. I don't think I've been there since you left. I'll be back. I love them. I had to visit Walmart to get two new tires on the 4 Runner. I only go there about three times a year, and this was a visit that was way too long. They also changed the oil. The auto body shop called on Friday to say they were done fixing the bumper area, from when I was hit from behind. Hunter's crinkle in the corner from his I-Just-Got-Off-My-Mission_And-Forgot-How-To-Drive incident is gone. Between the two new accidents, the 4 Runner is a whole new car!

I cancelled piano lessons. It was too pretty outside, and I had some baseball to watch. Miller went to a poorly advertised Pitch, Hit and Run competition. Remember those from Hutto? There are a few folks who think Granbury needs a Little League league, and have banded together this year to begin. They were the hosts, but 99.9% of the participants were registered in their league. I stumbled upon the event on Facebook, and then we saw the flyer when we were at Chick-fil A.

Miller did great. He came home with the 12U overall certificate (no longer handing out medals), the fastest runner from 2nd base to home (5.6 seconds), the farthest ball from batting off the tee (152 feet), and the most accurate pitcher (7/7). He's excited to be moving onto regionals.

Sawyer had a game in Burleson. They won by one. He played shortstop the entire game. He's sad because his elbow hurts from pitching. He isn't interested in telling his coach, either. Oh dear. And it's his birthday week - cheer him up in the morning. He'll be a sweet 16, not interested in dating, is interested in driving. He finished all his on line courses last week.

Other minor incidentals? I went trolling in the trailer park near our subdivision looking for the red Chevrolet Monte Carlo that is on camera spending my money. I found a red Chevrolet car, registered to a sex offender, that is not the Camaro. We'll see. I made arrangements with the other "S" names scheduled to clean the church on Thursday, and took my #KeysToTheKingdomThatAlsoOpenDoors and cleaned the church in the morning. #SNamesRock. Night time cleaning assignments do not work for me. Miss B is progressing in her backhand spring class, my usual Thursday night entertainment.

And the perfect way to end my day? A post by your mission president:

We attended the baptism of a new sister. The Spirit there was sweet and so were the refreshments. These talented elders made a cake for the occasion, and it was delicious!

How sweet to find you reaching out to others with food. We are definitely all foodies over here. Write me the wonderful details.

Love,

Mom
