Servants of the Lord

We received a photo of Tanner's zone in their last conference with the mission president and his wife.
Their "tour of duty" ends this month.
I know how much I will miss the Tavares, imagine those missionaries!
(Tanner's in the back row, center!)

Full-time missionaries are consecrated for a specified period of time
To humbly serve the Lord and to declare his word
Full-time missionaries pray and teach and find those who will listen
To eternal truth, the greatest message ever heard

The wonder of serving the Lord is not so much wearing a name plate
As it is seeing His face when you look at another.
The wonder of the gospel is not so much carrying around scriptures
As it is sharing them with each of your brothers.

The miracle of being a companion is not so much trying to get along
As it is becoming a servant the way Christ showed
The miracles of understanding the truth of what you have preached
Is when the spirit like a majestic river overflowed

The heart and the mind is inseparably linked by fonts of knowledge
Told to us by the Holy Ghost in whispers of peace
The heart and mind sifts this knowledge so that we can know truth
Helping the testimony we have to greatly increase

Sacred revelation from God brings awareness of missing knowledge
By prayer and scripture and words of the prophets
Sacred revelation outlines the paths we must travel to return to God
And helps keeps us from choices filled with regrets.

The Book of Mormon is a second witness of the gospel of Jesus Christ
Found in biblical teachings Christianity holds dear
The Book of Mormon will reach hearts and minds stubbornly closed
To the eternal truths that millions of saints revere

Work while the day is young for time is fleeting and darkness comes
Consecrate yourself, leaving the world behind you
Work together, so two hearts beat as one while pure doctrine flows
Into hearts that hunger for it and light dawns anew

Lovely!! Your dad is quite the poet. Only a week left with Pres. & Sis. Tavares. I think the zone conferences were really the last time that the missionaries in areas outside of Londrina itself will see them.
