I use to think of Saint Patrick's Day as a day to wear green, green eggs and ham, green milk, leprechauns, rainbows, pot of gold...and now I can think of my parents' love story.
Dad wrote: "A long time ago, in a galaxy far away, it was St. Patrick's day when I asked mom to marry me and we became engaged. Actually, I had been asking her to marry me repeatedly for a dozen years previous to that, but this time I got the answer I was looking for. So, the wearing of the green has no meaning for me. The only reason I celebrate the day is because it was when all my wishes came true. I was SUCH a child. Am. I meant to say "am" a child. May it ever be so. March 17: Erin go Bragh!" Dad

That's lovely! A much better reason for celebrating St. Patrick's Day.
Happy St. Patrick's Day to your Mom and Dad because all of his wishes came true on that day. I had forgotten that story, and I think it is a beautiful one.
