Jarrod helps out every Martin Luther King holiday with the Optimist basketball tournament, especially held for the Boys and Girls Clubs.(Sawyer doing the shooting portion of the contest.)
This year there weren't as many entrants, but it's fun for the boys to tag along and join in the fun.(Cooper running the obstacle course.)
Some of the sad comments he heard from participants at registration, when asked information about their parents, were "I don't know my Mom's name, I've never met her." Or, "I don't my Mom's address, she's in jail."(Porter running the obstacle course.)

Those comments are sad. It breaks my heart to hear things like that from kids.
Thank goodness there are people like Jarrod and places like the Boys and Girls Club!
I love that your kids have exposure to this. It's all about perspective, right?

Wonderful! Sad about the other children. Must be so hard.
The world needs more people like you guys! I love how involved your family is, such great lessons for your boys.
