When in Rome...
Living in Rome, Ohio we have learned that the Rome apple was created here in the 1800's. They're a beauty of a speciman, and make wonderful applesauce. It's the thickest sauce west of the Mississippi, at least that's what we were told, so we decided to find out for ourselves. What I didn't know, is how excited the little guys would be with the applesauce production.
Miller loved washing the apples...
Sawyer loved using the knife...
Of course I had to do the hot stuff. I've decided that's what Moms are all about: hot stuff
Porter was all about flexing the muscle, and smashing...
Cooper was in charge of bottle prep...

mmmm, fresh homemade applesauce with just a sprinkle of cinnamon next to a perfectly executed pork chop and you get a glimpse of what heaven tastes like.
What a fun mom. I have a hard time letting everyone help. We usually end up with more mess than anything!
Love it--I hope we get to that this year (though we may not). My favorite part is the ring toss too.
You are one HOT MOM in your apron and oven mitts! Hee hee. You are a GREAT mom to let the gang take this on together! Fun times! And now I know where that Rome apple comes from! Yummy AND educational!
You are my shining example of letting the kids help in the kitchen. You are also "one HOT mama"! And I mean that in the most beautiful way. Love and miss you...
WOW Amy. good for you!
Rachael shared a jar of her peaches and pears...I'm in heaven.
Appleasauce sounds yummy too.
Really though, letting your kids help, that's the part I admire most!
Loved the pictures of everyone helping. It must have been quite an assembly line. I went to Carlson's in Harvard on Saturday to pick apples--Cortlands and MacIntosh. Made a scrumptious apple pie yesterday--the recipe is out of Southern Living. The crust has cornmeal in it, butter, shortening, sugar, salt. The apples had lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, flour, sugar. Absolutely wonderful pie--supposedly their best ever--and I really enjoyed it. Only a small piece left and will share with Uncle David. Yum! I haven't used recipes from that magazine even though they have some great ones. I wonder if Cheftom has made anything from that magazine?
For my wife,
Hear is a comment, I thought the title was very clever and the pictures are great.
How fun!! I would've loved to part of that assembly line...i'm glad you all did it together, cause that's what family's do...they play together, and help in the kitchen together. :)
I do agree with Jen Jen and Becky, you are, "One hot Mamma!!" There's actually a country song...anyway, you are!!
Miss you guys!!
Thank you by the way for remembering my Birthday!!
Love you.
After Miller found the jars of apple sauce it was more like apple mush.
