Ike in West Virginia

There's something to say about natural disasters and the effect they can have on people. Surely physical effects seem the most destructive. We had a bit of the remnant of the Ike storm blow through today after church. The temperature was at 96, and then the wind began to blow. The next thing we knew our neighbor's tree was on the ground. It was an ornamental Cleveland Pear tree. Suppolsedly they aren't as fragile as the Bradford Pear, but obviously still a bit delicate. The tree was only ten years old. But, I love the fact that the neighbors came out of their house, mourned the loss of the tree, and dug right in to clean it up. Chainsaws made light work of it, at least enough to clear it off the road. My boys jumped right in. They're in the white tee shirts and Sunday pants. I like rubbing shoulders with my neighbors, and know this can be one good thing that happens after Mother Nature roars through.

That must have been scary. Sorry your neighbors lost their pear tree. Could they save any of the fruit? Easy pickings if that's the case. So nice to have everyone pitch in to help clear it away, and even better that there wasn't more damage. That storm was certainly a bad one, and I feel for the residents in Texas. We don't have any control of weather that's for certain, and we can just hope and pray that people are safe. We love you.

Glad you are safe, it's always best to be a good neighbor, you never know when you will need help, and they are close.

Wow - is Ike headed our way? What a beautiful tree, so sad. I loved seeing your boys out there helping. Wish you were my neighbor.:(

I am so happy to have found your blog! You and the boys...so fun. I loved the post about the dirty tub, isn't that the truth! Boys are so different than girls. At least most girls. I have one that could wrestle an aligator if I let her. Keep posting so I can see what is happening in your life. Marshall is busy with work and I am busy with the kids. Same thing as most of us. Keep me posted!
