Dear Children,
It has been a while since I've dropped a note to the outer internet world. Life is good. I have thoroughly enjoyed our quarantined status from day 1. Life is so much simpler, demands are less, calendar's are nonexistent, savings are plentiful.
Planning, preparing and cooking three meals a day for seven? Maybe a little busier in the kitchen, but I've always been happy feeding an army. Albeit smaller, there are still never any leftovers. And they've been good sports about trying new things, like a version of AnneMarie's bruschetta.
Miller continues to spend his free time on FrisbeeGolf. After making himself his own wooden basket to catch the frisbees, which moves between our two trees, he is faithful about asking everyone for a ride to the course. He often finds lost frisbees, and has managed to keep all of them, as no one wants to drive back to Granbury to retrieve them. He also bought some from Hunter Dewey, whose father's security premises butt up against a Fort Worth course, and comes home with discs that he finds in the parking lot.
Cooper and Sawyer continue to amaze and awe the masses. Cooper was making a knife to give a good friend, who then contacted him and asked him to make him a knife. Imagine his surprise when he got it the next day. He then put in an order for his tomahawk handle and blade to be fitted for a leather grip and blade cover. Cooper did a beautiful job. Sawyer has received two orders to sharpen knives, charging $1 an inch. Cooper received a second order for a tomahawk grip and cover, and Sawyer a request to sharpen the blade.
Cooper spent some time with a man that paints windows of local businesses, on an order for a large Texas flag on his garage door. Imagine his surprise to find out the last storm destroyed the door, the home owners insurance will cover the expense, and he'll be painting the large flag again next week.
Dad has been working on a boat mount he's had his eye on for a while, and finished it last week, just in time to take me on a Mother's Day cruise on Lake Granbury, below the cliffs of our subdivision. We even checked out the boat slip we've been paying on, and have a few ideas on how to incorporate our canoe into being stored at the slip. It was a lovely evening with waves, birds, views, and my man. I might have even giggled a little when the boat leans, or the waves were large and wavey.
Still hoping to be together sometime this summer. We're exploring different options to get a way in August, so be flexible!
Love,
Mom
