Dear Tanner,
I thought I better type something now, as I'm not sure when you'll be given a chance to check your email. We know you're sooooooo excited to be leaving the CTM. Best of luck this week, as it will be quite the adjustment. Kind of like going to BYU, where all of a sudden you no longer had anyone preparing meals for you, and your family got a whole lot smaller. You'll do great! Just keep that wonderful perspective you have.
We had two more letters come back from the pouch mail, so we'll be forwarding those along. One of them contained your international driver's license, so be assured, if you're asked, you're good to go!
We got a wonderful email from Matt Stone. In it he shared that last Thursday night, while working at the Provo temple,"I was looking through the prayer roll and noticed the name Tanner Schenewark written in loopy old-person handwriting. You would know better than me who would have put it there, but rest assured I also added his name in my own (slightly more legible) handwriting shortly thereafter. People are praying for your son! Thought you might like to know. :)" What a wonderful way to warm my heart! I smiled through a few tears when I read this email. I do like to know there are angels watching over you in more ways than one. We checked with Zach and Alana but it was not them. Perhaps the Youngs?
Tuesday evening for Cub scouts Sawyer and 17 others got to earn their whittling chip. Carving ivory soap with their pocket knives is one of the highlights of the Bear program. They practiced using knives beforehand with a plastic knife to cut a roll and spread jam. Do you remember earning your whittling chip? I definitely remember your first little red knife!
Wednesday evening Dad and I got to go on a date to a retirement dinner for one of Barnett's associates. It was at Rocco's. The food was very good, those at the table very enjoyable, but bringing home the leftover homemade Italian creme cake to those at home was a bonus! Plus traveling to and fro with your Dad definitely was the highlight of the night. He's such a conversationalist!
Thursday was another night out at the yearly Optimist election evening. Dad is no longer Optimist president, but retains the title of past president. Only Porter and Breyer came this year, but we got to bring home a whole pan of untouched alfredo. I'm grateful for leftovers! Not only is it easy on the budget, but makes my life a whole lot easier feeding the boys!
Friday evening I worked the concession stand for Hunter's golf team. Good times up to my elbows in popcorn, soda and nachos. You'll be very pleased to know I couldn't talk either of your high school brothers in going to homecoming ;-)
Yesterday I prayed. The Republican rally was well done, and well attended. Listening to the coal miners was touching. They traveled from WV to OH because they knew winning OH was more important than WV. They unfurled a huge American flag, and had all the veterans in attendance help hold it up. When they came up a few veterans short, Cooper got to assist them. What an honor. We had three soccer games before the rally. It is SO fun to watch Miller and Sawyer play. Pure athleticism in motion. Miller scored 4/5 goals, playing two quarters ;-) Sawyer scored 1/2, and defended the goal for two quarters, successfully stopping ten goal attempts! Dad went to Cooper's game in Ironton. I don't have as many details to share, but he still is the master of defense.
Your companion mentioned in his last letter perhaps having an extra preparation day, and to read mail and such...let us know, and we'll be sure to have something waiting in the inbox. We love you! We're so excited to hear about where you're assigned and whom you're with. Sis. Cummings recommended I befriend Sis. Tavares on Facebook. So I did. I told her that you and Elder Cummings were two fine missionaries, who exemplify the bar truly being raised. Go get'em!
Love,
Mom and Dad
Hello Tanner, I decided to type this little letter, just to make sure you get it, hopefully by now you have gotten my last letter, but Mom said she got two more back from the post office so I doubt it. Thank you for your letter. I really enjoyed it, especially the advice about careers. President Lim and I had gone home teaching (he is my new companion) just a couple days before, and he asked about my future plans and occupation. And I really do not know. Your advice though really helped my perspective, and how can I be of the greatest worth. So, while I have not decided, it has helped clear the clutter up. I am hoping to take the ACT in December this year. I did not make it on in golf, having just a horrible putting day and ending up with just under fifty. Oh well. You probably have not had any language issues, but if you do have any funny moments, like asking for circumscribed bread, let us know. ( : }. That is about all, but know we love you and miss you. Love, Hunter.

I so love reading the letters going both directions.
The letters are awesome. Thank you so much for sharing.
I absolutely love the thought of someone quietly writing the name of your missionary on the prayer roll at the temple. Warmed my heart, too!
Heyyy, just so you know, Tanner is in our family prayers every day and every Monday FHE we sing your missionary song, too :)
Quick ??? Tanner said he could use "memory cards for pictures" , which memory card fits his camera?!
We've got several mosquito nets, can we send him one and which is the correct address these days?!
Love you all! Sis B :)
