Porter's Talk

There is a song in the hymn book called, Joseph Smith's First Prayer. Some of the words of this song are,

"When within the shady woodland Joseph sought the God of love.

Humbly kneeling, sweet appealing--'Twas the boy's first uttered prayer--

When the pow'rs of sin assailing filled his soul with deep despair.

Suddenly a light descended, brighter far than noonday sun,

and a shining, glorious pillar o'er him fell, around him shone,

while appeared two heav'nly beings, God the Father and the Son."

Thus began the restoration of the gospel. We have the sacrament as a remembrance of our Savior, and his sacrifice and suffering for our behalf. We have the Book of Mormon as a remembrance of the sacrifice and suffering Joseph Smith endured to restore the gospel of Jesus Christ to the earth again. I am grateful to have the gospel in my life. I'm grateful for the Book of Mormon. I'm especially thnkful for Joseph Smith and the important role he played in restoring the gospel.
